Getting Started

After you purchase the  Made Simple for webOS App from the App Catalog, locate the icon on your Launcher.

Guide Won't Open or "View Guide" button does not work.

This will happen if the "PDF View" native app has been removed from your phone.  Follow these steps to restore the PDF View App so you can view our guide.

Usually, when the "View Guide" button does nothing, the PDF View app is missing.  (This PDF View app is included with the webOS(tm) Operating System but can be inadvertently deleted.)

The steps below will help you restore your PDF View App by using the "Partial Erase" function.

IMPORTANT: You will need to know all your Palm Profile password and synergy/sync usernames and passwords to complete this process.  (In other words, if you sync to Google, Facebook, Yahoo! or another service, you will need to know and enter these usernames and passwords.)

Step 1:  Take backup of your data.

Tap the "Back Up" App from your launcher.

Tap the "Backup Now" button at the bottom to make sure you get a fresh backup on the server.

Look for a message near the top that says "Last backup" (today's date & time).

Make sure the switch at the top is set to "On"

Exit out of the Backup app.

Step 2: Perform a Partial Erase.

Partial Erase deletes personal information (contacts, tasks, calendar, memos), applications, and the Palm profile.  But core applications (like the PDF View app) data and applications downloaded from the App Catalog are restored after you sign in to the Palm profile again.

Open the "Device Info" App

Tap Reset Options, and then tap Partial Erase twice. The phone may take a few minutes to reset.

STEP 3: Restore Your Data from Your Profile and Sync Accounts

Once the reset is complete, follow the onscreen prompts to enter the Palm profile email address and password.  This restores all data that was backed up to the Palm profile, including contacts, calendar events, and tasks, as well as apps downloaded from the App Catalog.

Then, you'll need to enter all usernames and passwords for your synergy/sync accounts to get those up and running again.

Step 4:  Tap the "Made Simple for webOS(tm)" app.

Tap the "View Guide" button, it should open up the PDF View app and show you the guide inside the PDF View app.

Getting Around

Use the links to "Apps," "Chapters," and "Contents" to quickly jump to any section of the guide.

TIP: Tap any Icon, Chapter or table of contents entry to jump to that section in the guide.

Changing Pages

Use the Arrows to move forward/back a page at a time.  Tap the page number to type and jump to a specific page.

TIP: Wait for the new page to load before tapping the arrow for the next page -- tapping too quickly may result in the PDF View app locking up (showing you a 'spinning circle')  See below for help.

Jumping to Pages:

Touch any hyperlinked page number or image to jump there. (Page numbers may not be underlined, but they will still jump.)

Note: At publishing time, external links (web addresses like
www.google.com) do not work from the PDF View app on your device.

Using Bookmarks:

Tap or swipe down in the upper left corner to see the menu.  Select Bookmarks and swipe up/down, then tap a Bookmark to jump to it.

TIP: When the bookmark list is visible, start typing on the keyboard to "Find" matching entries.

Zooming In/Out

Double-tap or use the 'pinch open' or 'pinch closed' to zoom into view a page.

Recover from Spinning Circle:

Sometimes, the PDF View may get into a 'Spinning Circle' situation (Locked up). The first thing to try is to minimize to a card and close it by 'flicking' it up and off the screen.

If simply closing the PDF View app does not solve the problem, then you will need to Reset your Pre. (see below)

How to Reset Your Phone:

If simply closing the PDF View and re-entering it from the "View Guide" button in the App does not work, then you need to reset your Phone.

After resetting your device, simply re-open the App and click the "View Guide" button again.
